Research & evidence

What does the evidence tell us?

Research relevant to indoor cycling, translated into useful information for instructors, educators and organisations.

Evidence in practice

From research to the studio

We look at research from exercise science, cycling, psychology, health and coaching, then consider what it can tell us about indoor cycling.

That means looking at who took part, what was measured and how the study was carried out, then asking whether the findings are useful in a real class.

01 / STUDY
What was studied?
Who took part, what was measured and how the research was carried out.
02 / FINDINGS
What did it find?
What the results actually showed.
03 / PRACTICE
What can we use?
What is useful for indoor cycling, and where the findings need more context.
Areas we follow

Research relevant to indoor cycling

We look at exercise science, cycling, psychology, health, coaching and other areas that can help us understand indoor cycling better.

01

Exercise physiology

Intensity, cardiovascular response, training adaptation, fatigue, recovery and exercise prescription.

02

Cycling performance

Cadence, power, efficiency, pacing and other research relevant to how people cycle.

03

Psychology & motivation

Motivation, adherence, perceived exertion, music, group exercise and the experience of taking part.

04

Health & different populations

Research relevant to ageing, health conditions, accessibility and the different people who may take part in indoor cycling.
